His immense kindness toward animals saw him rescue numerous dogs who became members of his family. Though her greatest love was reserved for her family and friends, Talarico also loved to sing and was known to devour books. She will be fondly remembered for her boundless joie de vivre and optimism, her deep compassion and wisdom, and her long-lasting friendships. He was also a devoted teacher who trained and mentored dozens of scholars, including many of the current luminaries in the field of family violence, as director for 30 years of a post-doctoral fellowship program funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.
